UME Student Faculty Advisor
The UME Student Faculty Advisors play an important role in NOSM University’s (NOSM U’s) confidential career advising system that integrates the efforts of faculty members, directors of required clinical learning experiences, and Learner Support Services. Faculty in this position, in collaboration with Learner Affairs Officers (LAOs), assist our medical students in exploring career options and determining appropriate approaches to the next steps in their medical training. The LAO will refer UME students to the Faculty Advisor, as necessary.
Dr. Louise Logan

Dr. Logan is an Associate Professor at NOSM University and a CCFP(EM)-certified Emergency Physician. Since NOSM’s inception, she has made significant contributions to the school through numerous leadership roles and committee participation. A highly engaged member of the East Campus community, Dr. Logan is deeply involved in teaching across all four years of the undergraduate medical program.
As a long-serving Clerkship Lead for Emergency Medicine and Clinical Reasoning facilitator, Dr. Logan has established strong connections with learners at various stages of their medical education. Her dedication to teaching was recognized nationally with the 2025 Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) Certificate of Merit, reflecting her exceptional commitment to medical education and mentorship.
Dr. Logan also brings valuable experience in learner support from her previous role as Resident Wellness Lead Clinician for NOSM’s postgraduate programs. In her new role, she looks forward to guiding learners through their career exploration, decision-making, and professional development journeys.
She finds great satisfaction in hearing about and discussing students’ future career and life paths and encourages all learners to connect with her—whether seeking advice, guidance, or simply a conversation about different perspectives.
