NOSM University’s Learner Support Services Office is a confidential service for individual students and learners, and operates at arm’s length from academics. We offer services and support to assist learners academically, personally, and financially.
Health and Wellness
One of our key tenets is student and learner wellness. Learner Supports Services has a variety of programs and resources available to you as a NODIP student.
Our Learners Affairs Officers are equipped to provide support and consultation to interns on a one-on-one basis. They are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
In addition, you have access to the Lifeworks Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and their resources. This is a confidential support service. They offer full access to face-to-face, telephone, video and e-counselling, and immediate support is available 24/7/365 at 1-844-880-9142 or online at workhealthlife.com.
Professional Development
As a NODIP student, your professional development opportunities are integrated into your curriculum, rather than handled by Learner Support Services. Your program includes a variety of workshops that will help you develop as a professional and prepare you for practice. For more information, please see your NODIP program page.
Financial Assistance
The Office of Financial Assistance at NOSM University assists students with OSAP, student loans, and bursary applications. As a NODIP student, you are not eligible to receive OSAP or student loans.
However, if you have previous student loans, we highly encourage you to consider the Repayment Assistance Program, which can make payments much more manageable.
If you have any questions about financial assistance at NOSM University, contact us at financialaid@nosm.ca.
Accommodations and Academic Assistance
If you are in need of an accommodation, please contact the Accessibility Advisor. They will be happy to assist you.
NOSM University endeavours to be an inclusive and barrier free, adaptive institution by providing academic accommodations as mandated by The Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
The University has a legal responsibility to accommodate students with disabilities. The Accommodations policy ensures that academic accommodations will be provided in accordance with the principles of dignity, individualization and inclusion. NOSM University will work cooperatively, and in a spirit of respect, with all partners in the accommodation process.
For more information about accommodations, please visit our Accommodations and Accessibility page.
If you are struggling with academics in your program, the first step is asking for help. We are here to support you. You can discuss your difficulty with your Learners Affairs Officer, or your preceptors to see if they can provide additional assistance and/or resources.
