NOSM University, Clinician Teacher Certificate

NOSM University’s Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) is excited to introduce the NOSM University Clinician Teacher Certificate, NOSM University’s first Micro-Credential!

What is it?
The Clinician Teacher Certificate (CTC) provides targeted training opportunities for preceptors to expand their clinical teaching skills and explore new teaching strategies. Pick and choose from a variety of e-learning courses and workshops to customize your learning journey. This program is a Micro-Credential: a condensed training program developed to help individuals upgrade their skills.

Format: E-learning courses & workshops
Each workshop and e-learning course is accredited individually, and you will be able to claim learning credits upon completion. Pick-and-choose from course and workshop offerings or complete all requirements to receive the Clinician Teacher Certificate:

Length of time: Up to 2 years from enrollment date to complete all requirements

Requirements: A total of 7 courses/workshops including 4 mandatory e-learning courses and 2 workshops (1 mandatory, one of our your choosing). For your 7th course, participants may choose an e-learning course or workshop. Mandatory components are indicated with an asterisk (*) below.

Course Overall Learning Objectives

  1. Apply strategies to cultivate a safe, supportive learning environment within the context of busy clinical practice that fosters learner engagement, curiosity, and professional growth.
  2. Orient learners to busy clinical practice to support their integration into the collaborative clinical setting and set the stage for a positive and effective learning experience.
  3. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to learners in busy clinical practice, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability in their educational journey while supporting a growth mindset.
  4. Model professional behaviour, ethical practice, and compassionate patient care while supervising learners in busy clinical practice.

ECHO Rheumatology online program – Fridays from 12:00 – 1:30 pm Eastern

This program aims to support primary care providers with diagnosis and management of their rheumatic patients, allowing for early treatment so that tissue/joint damage is avoided or reduced.

Program learning objectives are: 

  • To develop an approach to identifying inflammatory arthritis in order to
  • Facilitate early referral and management
  • Optimize triage
  • Identifying clinical, laboratory and radiographic features suggestive of disease flare/activity
  • Monitoring for side effects of commonly used disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs)
  • Monitoring for disease and treatment associated comorbidity
