Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is a newly amalgamated organization comprising of the Burks Falls and District Health Centre, Huntsville and District Memorial Hospital and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. The Rehabilitation services consists of staff in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology across all 3 sites. A wide range of health services for both in and out-patients are provided.

The South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site offers services on an in and out-patient basis. General medicine, surgery, critical care/ICU, and acute neurology/neurosurgery are available on site. Rehabilitation services are provided for individuals with acquired brain injury, acute and chronic cardio-respiratory. The SMMH ensures that a wide range of health care needs is met from palliative care to psychosocial dysfunction. Currently, the in-patient rehabilitation beds are treated in the acute care environment, however, designated rehab beds will be available in the near future.

The SMMH runs an extended out-patient service that involves a fee services clinic offering occupational therapy, physiotherapy and massage therapy. There is a Medical Rehabilitation Designated Assessment Centre providing independent assessment for post MVA Currently, the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital employs three physiotherapists, one occupational therapist and two rehabilitation assistants.

Children’s Treatments Centres provide a broad range of services and supports to children and youth with special needs from birth to 19 years of age and their families. The role of Children’s Rehabilitation Centre is to provide adequate services and programs for children and young people with long-term disabilities (physical, perceptual, and communication disorders).
