Dr. Reed Morrison is NOSM University’s new Associate Program Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (PHPM). Dr. Morrison is currently a Public Health Physician at Public Health Ontario. He is a proud graduate of NOSM’s MD program and completed a residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Prior to entering medicine, he enjoyed a variety of roles in public health including with a local public health unit, the federal government, and the international emergencies team of the Red Cross. His education also includes a Bachelor’s in Health Promotion from Laurentian University, a Masters in Public Health, and a Masters in Health Administration. While in Ottawa, Dr. Morrison has engaged in undergraduate teaching and curriculum design as well as teaching and administrative roles in his residency program. He is excited to work with NOSM University’s PHPM residents, staff, and faculty in this new role.
Dr. Jason Sutherland, NOSM University alumnus, named Program Director, Family Medicine Residency Program
NOSM University is pleased to announce Dr. Jason Sutherland as the incoming Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, effective September 1, 2023.
Dr. Sutherland is a graduate of NOSM University’s MD and Family Medicine residency programs and holds a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from McMaster University. Since 2013, Dr. Sutherland has provided primary care to his community-based practice, joining the City of Lakes Family Health Team in 2016, and has worked as a medical staff physician with Health Sciences North’s Department of Family Medicine. He is also the Regional Primary Care Lead at the Jim and Shirley Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre.
An Associate Professor at NOSM University, Dr. Sutherland has acted as a preceptor to many residents and medical students—he has been a Coordinator in the MD program since 2015 and the Chair of Family Medicine Residency Program’s Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement Committee since 2022.

Dr. Frédéric Sarrazin returns to the role of Program Director of the Family Medicine – Enhanced Skills Residency Program
NOSM University is pleased to announce Dr. Frédéric Sarrazin has returned to the role of Program Director, Family Medicine Enhanced Skills Residency Program, effective July 1, 2023—a position he previously held from 2016 to 2019. Dr. Sarrazin is an Emergency Physician at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and holds the rank of Associate Professor at NOSM University. During his time away from this leadership position, Dr. Sarrazin continued his involvement with the University’s residency programs, as the Francophone Coordinator and most recently, as the Chair of the Family Medicine – Emergency Medicine Competency Committee.
Dr. Sarrazin is the recipient of the 2019 Professional Association of Residents of Ontario (PARO) Clinical Teaching Award – Excellence in Postgraduate Medical Education and of a NOSM University 2023 Clinical Teaching Excellence Award.
