Palliation of End-Stage Heart Disease

The Palliative Care Education Series provides regular lectures which discuss common end-of-life issues. During this session, we will discuss the palliation of end-stage heart disease.

SESSION LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Describe how a heart failure program can benefit your patients.
2. Identify when to initiate a palliative approach in a patient with end-stage heart disease.
3. Recognize when it is appropriate to discuss the de-activation of an ICD.
