LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the carbon footprint of the Canadian health-care system and the disproportionate environmental impact associated with care in the last year of life.
2. Recognize how earlier palliative care, appropriate goals-of-care discussions, anddeprescribing can reduce potentially avoidable hospital utilization and treatment burden while maintaining patient-centered care.
3. Identify practical, climate-conscious changes that physicians and health-care teams can incorporate into everyday clinical decision-making, particularly for patients with advanced illness and limited life expectancy.
