NOSM Seeks Agency Applications for Summer Studentship Program

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) announces today that agencies may apply for funding to have health-care students work at their organization during the summer of 2022. This funding is available through NOSM’s Summer Studentship Program, which was established by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to allow a limited number of regulated health-care students an opportunity to gain relevant work experience in their field of study. Dr. Emily Groot named NOSM’s new Program Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) announces Dr. Emily Groot as the incoming Program Director of the Public Health and Preventive Medicine residency program effective October 18, 2021. Dr. Groot is a public health physician, born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie on the territory of Garden River and Batchewana First Nations. She completed medical school at McMaster University and completed her residency in public health and preventive medicine at Queen’s University. Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) medical student Danica Desjardins receives the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) Award for 2021. The award recognizes second-year medical students who exemplify perseverance, collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit.
