NOSM University alumnus to lead NOSM University’s Admissions Portfolio

NOSM University’s new Assistant Dean, Admissions and Enrolment is one of the University’s earliest MD graduates. Dr. Paul Miron is a Francophone family physician, born and raised in Northern Ontario. He graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Biochemistry. After embarking on his medical studies at NOSM University, Dr. Miron completed a Family Medicine residency at McMaster University and subsequently obtained a Master of Health Sciences Education. Help train Northern Ontario’s future doctors by portraying a patient NOSM University will be hosting an information session for individuals interested in becoming a Standardized Patient (SP). SPs are healthy people trained to act as real patients and simulate symptoms and medical conditions. They assist medical students in acquiring skills for patient history-taking and physical exams and provide valuable feedback to students. NOSM University receives $150,000 gift from The Masonic Foundation of Ontario

Donation supporting MD students will be matched by FDC Foundation The Masonic Foundation of Ontario has donated $150,000 towards awards and bursaries for NOSM University students. This is the largest single contribution by Masons to NOSM University. Both The Masonic Foundation of Ontario and district Mason groups throughout the North have been consistent donors to NOSM University since 2007. NOSM University Recovering from Cyber Incident

NOSM University is recovering from a campus-wide service disruption due to a cyber incident that was detected on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Campus internet in both Sudbury and Thunder Bay, as well as shared and departmental drives, and many university websites and services, continue to be inaccessible. Upon discovery of the issue, NOSM University staff immediately took steps to secure and protect the network and data/information. Donation supporting Northeastern MD students will be matched by FDC Foundation  The Marcel and Frances Labelle Foundation has donated $500,000 to support NOSM University students from Northeastern Ontario.
