Palliative Care Conference – Day One

Please join us for our two part conference

November 5, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST

April 1, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

This conference will provide strategies and resources for healthcare providers to develop a collaborative, interdisciplinary palliative care approach focused on non-Oncology Palliative Care in Northern, rural, and remote Ontario communities. Palliative Care scholarship and educational interventions frequently focus on Palliative Care for patients with cancer; this conference aims to bridge this gap and provide participants with the opportunity to explore Non-Oncology Palliative Care topics in further depth while providing participants with resources specific to Northern, rural, and remote Ontario contexts. Interactive seminars, breakout rooms, and poster sessions will focus on caring for patients with kidney, cardiovascular, respiratory, and liver diseases, developing interdisciplinary care networks, and other relevant topics that will equip providers with approaches and tools to provide high-quality care for their patients and patients’ families.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the scope, characteristics, and challenges of Non-Oncology Palliative Care in Northern, rural, and remote Ontario communities.
  2. Employ an interprofessional palliative care approach to address the needs of patients with non-oncological diagnoses and special patient populations.
