NOSM University announces Dr. Katie Anderson as the incoming Program Director, Psychiatry Residency Program, effective June 1, 2024. An alumna of the MD and Psychiatry Residency programs and an Assistant Professor, Dr. Anderson has a long track record with NOSM University. Currently, she provides outpatient psychiatric care in Thunder Bay and other communities served by St. Joseph’s Care Group, where she has also served as Medical Director of Community Mental Health. Dr. Gautam Kumar named NOSM University’s new Program Director of Pediatrics

Dr. Gautam Kumar is the incoming Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program at NOSM University effective July 1, 2024.  A consultant pediatrician who has been practicing in Sudbury for the last 14 years, Dr. Kumar is a graduate of the University of Ottawa's Pediatric Residency and MD programs.   Dr. Kumar has held the position of Chief of Pediatrics at Health Sciences North since 2019. He has been an Assistant Professor at NOSM University since 2010. Majority of NOSM University MD Graduates Choose Family Medicine

NOSM University is succeeding in its mission to help create a flourishing health workforce to serve Northern Ontario. The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) has concluded its work for 2024. All 69 eligible NOSM University MD students were matched to residency programs. Critically, 38 of those students were matched to family medicine (55%)—the highest proportional rate in Canada. NOSM University is also proud that 36 of the graduating MDs (52%) will be doing their residency training at NOSM University. This is important because about 90% of learners who do both an MD degree and a residency in the North, stay in the North. ...
