These gatherings offer a meaningful space to build relationships, connect across all stages of training and practice, and share in culture, community, and connection.

Each October, Indigenous residents and fellows from a variety of specialties share their experiences navigating the CaRMS process. Learn from their journeys, ask questions, and gain insights to help you prepare for your own path to residency.

The Indigenous Affairs Unit will be hosting our Annual Fall Recruitment Event on November 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (EST)

This will be a virtual event and an opportunity for prospective Indigenous learners to connect, ask questions, learn more about pathways to medicine, and hear stories and experiences from Indigenous medical learners.

IPAC is excited to partner with the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, including the Wâpanachakos Indigenous Health Program (WIHP) and the Northern Alberta Medical Program (NAMP), as the Host School Partner for the 2027 Annual Mentorship Gathering & AGM.

Join us June 10–12, 2027, in Sǫ̀mba K’è (Yellowknife), Northwest Territories, on Chief Drygeese Territory within Treaty 8, the traditional home of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.

The Annual Mentorship Gathering brings together Indigenous medical students, postgraduate trainees, physicians, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and partners from across Turtle Island to connect, learn, and strengthen Indigenous physician leadership.

We look forward to gathering with you in the North!

Annual Mentorship Gathering 2026

• Dates: June 4 to 7, 2026
• Location: Animikii-Wiikwedong (Thunder Bay), Ontario, at Lakehead University

Theme: Leading Together with Love

IPAC’s Annual Mentorship Gathering and AGM will take place June 4 to 7 in Animikii-Wiikwedong (Thunder Bay), Ontario, on the traditional territory of Fort William First Nation, and will be hosted at Lakehead University in partnership with NOSM University.

The Gathering is now sold out.

The Gathering brings together Indigenous medical students, residents, and physicians, including members and those who may be joining for the first time. It is a chance to strengthen mentorship and leadership, and to share stories from professional, medical, academic, and life journeys.

Attendees will take part in academic sessions, cultural teachings, and networking experiences that honour Indigenous excellence in medicine.

Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day of ceremony where all Canadians are called to join together to take a stand against violence towards women, children and all those along the gender continuum and to take practical steps for our collective journey of reconciliation. Registration is FREE to all participants! Together, we are making a change.

Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People, is observed on May 5th. The day honours and brings awareness to the thousands of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people who have been subject to disproportionate violence in Canada.
