Dr. Melanie Squarzolo Appointed Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs, Clinical Sciences

NOSM University has named Dr. Melanie Squarzolo as the new Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs, Clinical Sciences, effective October 1, 2026.  

A member of the inaugural class of NOSM University’s Emergency Medicine residency program, Dr. Squarzolo graduated from the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and completed the University of Ottawa’s Northern Ontario Family Medicine residency program. She is proud to serve her home community of Sudbury as an emergency medicine physician at Health Sciences North. 

An Associate Professor at NOSM University, Dr. Squarzolo has nearly two decades of experience in emergency medicine and a dozen years of medical leadership. She has served as Emergency Medicine Curriculum Lead of NOSM University’s MD program and as Program Director of NOSM University’s Family Medicine-Emergency Medicine program, which is designed to prepare family medicine graduates with enhanced skills for the emergency room. Dr. Squarzolo is also a board member of the Physician Clinical Teachers Association, representing and advocating for physician clinical teachers across Northern Ontario. 

In her new role, Dr. Squarzolo will support faculty appointments, promotions, and professional development, as well as other aspects of faculty affairs including wellness.
