Meet our Residents
Urology Residents
We are proud to introduce the residents of NOSM U Urology, our program has continued to grow and evolve, building a strong foundation in urological education and patient care across Northern Ontario.
Being part of a developing program offers a unique opportunity, our residents play an active role in shaping the culture, curriculum, and future direction of training. Their contributions, alongside the dedication of our faculty, are helping to strengthen urology education in the North.
We are excited to support our residents as they continue their journey and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care in our communities.

Dr. Amy Beevor-Potts, PGY2, was born and grew up in Salmon Arm, BC. She attended the University of Calgary studying Biomedical Sciences and Bioinformatics. She then moved to Vancouver to attend medical school at the University of British Columbia, from which she graduated in 2023. Amy spent the last year as a family medicine resident at UBC with a specific interest in Indigenous Health and worked in Vancouver’s Downtown East side. She’s extremely excited to be coming to Ontario and to be joining NOSM’s Urology Residency Program. Outside of the hospital, you can find Amy on the nearest hiking trail with her husband and their dog, Pepper, at home baking or working on endless crafting projects.

Dr. Denis Rompotinos PGY2, is originally from Montreal, where he completed his medical school at McGill University in 2023. During his studies, he was elected as President of the Medical Students’ Society and volunteered as a student ambassador. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science at McGill University, focusing his thesis on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
In his free time, Denis is an avid reader and a fan of the Harry Potter series. He enjoys listening to and discovering new musical artists. He also likes to spend time outdoors, exploring green spaces and hiking.
Dr. Hussein Elkhatib, PGY1, is drawn to the specialty of urology for its blend of hands-on surgery and meaningful patient care. He enjoys the precision of the operating room and has a strong passion for teaching. He also has a growing interest in robotics and surgical technology, particularly in how innovation can enhance the way we operate.
Outside of medicine, Hussein enjoys skiing, staying active, and following soccer. A passionate fan, he’s always happy to talk soccer – especially if it means poking you in the hallway after your team takes a tough loss.

Dr. Abe Chidiac, in coming for 2026/2027, grew up in Shelburne, NS. He completed both his BSc in medical sciences and medical school at Dalhousie. Throughout his training, Abe became drawn to the specialty of Urology through personal connection to the field. He is grateful to be involved in a specialty that has a unique mixture of surgery and medicine and is excited to begin his residency at NOSM University.
Outside of medicine, Abe enjoys soccer, traveling, climbing, and music, especially guitar. He enjoys experiencing new things, so it is hard to say where you will find him, but he is always happy to strike up a conversation.
