Course Information

Interested Applicants: The Master of Medical Studies offers both a Thesis and Course based stream for completing the program.

Current Student: Please review the course requirements for the stream you are registered in (e.g. Thesis or Course)

Thesis Option:

Learners enrolled in the MMS Program’s thesis option will be required to complete a research thesis (GMMS 6009), 3 required courses, and 1 elective course. Learners in this stream of the MMS program are also required to attend the annual Program Workshop. The purpose of the Workshop is to provide a venue for networking, research presentations, and program evaluation.

Course-based Option:

The MMS Course-based option consists of 6 required courses and 3 elective courses.

Enrollment Status:

Full-time Status

Learners enrolled full-time in either the Thesis or Course based stream must complete the program of study in two years. For thesis students this includes the completion and successful defense of the research thesis.

Each term, full-time thesis students must be in rolled in a minimum of one course (GMMS 6009) up to a maximum of 3 courses + GMMS 6009.

Each term, full-time course based students must take a minimum of one course up to a maximum of 3 courses.

Part-time Status

Part-time learners in the Thesis or Course based streams are expected to complete the MMS program within six years. For thesis students this includes the completion and successful defense of the research thesis.

Each term, part-time thesis students can take a maximum of 1 course + GMMS 6009.

Each term, part-time course based students can take a maximum of 1 course.
