Resident Involvement

Becoming Involved With PGME

PGME Governance, Social and Recruitment Opportunities

We welcome you to get involved at any level in postgraduate medical education. Residents have great opportunity to influence the decisions and directions of the Postgraduate Medical Education, your specific residency program, as well as the entire NOSM University community. You can build your leadership skills and help with governance, recruitment, policy direction, curriculum development, social activities and much more.

Calls for resident participation on committees and working groups will come up throughout the academic year through our Resident Bulletin, The ‘Script, and/or from Chief/Senior Residents in your program.

The following is a list of resident participation group examples:

  • Postgraduate Medical Education Committee
  • PGMEC Resident Advisory Subcommittee
  • PGMEC Allocations Subcommittee
  • PGMEC Policy Subcommittee
  • NOSM University Senate
  • Francophone Reference Group
  • Indigenous Reference Group
  • Ad Hoc Working Groups

This is Me Campaign

The PGME office is launching new recruitment campaign this fall and is seeking volunteers to participate in the “This Is Me” marketing campaign.

What is “This is Me”?

This is Me is NOSM University’s new residency program recruitment campaign.

Today’s medical learners are looking for more than a residency program. They are seeking training experiences that support personal and professional growth, meaningful community and clinical experiences, strong mentorship and support, and opportunities to make an impact.

This is Me showcases the real experiences, perspectives, and impact of NOSM University residents, faculty and alums through authentic storytelling.

Rather than relying on polished advertising, the campaign centers on the people who know the experience best: those who have lived it.

My residency. My Way.  Training is learner-centered, hands-on, and responsive to individual career goals.

Not just rural. Remarkable.  Meaningful clinical experiences in urban, rural, and remote communities across Northern Ontario.

Make an impact.  Opportunities to contribute meaningfully to health equity, diverse communities, and health systems.

Through genuine stories and real experiences, This is Me will help future residents discover what makes residency with NOSM University unique.

Why We’re Asking You to Participate

The most powerful advocates for residency training at NOSM University are those who have experienced it and can bring it to life in a way that no brochure or advertisement can. By participating, you will help future residents better understand:

  • What living and training in the North is really like
  • The breadth of experiences available across Northern Ontario
  • The relationships, opportunities, and impact that define the program

What Participation Would Involve

Participants can engage with the campaign in several ways, such as:

  • Submit stories, photos and testimonials
  • Take part in a short photoshoot
  • Participate in a brief video interview or filmed moments
  • Share reflections about their residency experience
  • Allow filming in clinical, educational, or community settings (where appropriate and permitted)
