Dr. Melissa Basso Dr. Melissa Basso was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario. She completed medical school in Thunder Bay and her Family Medicine residency in Timmins, both through NOSM University. Her clinical interests include POCUS, trauma, procedures, and medical education. Outside of medicine, she enjoys travelling, exploring the outdoors, yoga, and (most importantly) hanging out with her doodle! . |
Dr. Arielle Bieniek Dr. Arielle Bieniek grew up in Sudbury, completed her medical training at the University of Manitoba, and Family Medicine training through NOSM University’s Sudbury site. Her medical interests include: trauma, palliative care, and medical education. In her free time, Dr. Bieniek loves hot yoga, hiking, being outdoors with her friends and family, building new Lego sets, and trying out different crafting hobbies. |
Dr. Martine Fecteau Dr. Martine Fecteau is a proud Timmins native who completed her undergraduate studies in health sciences in Ottawa before returning north to pursue her medical training at NOSM University in Sudbury. She completed her residency in Timmins and her clinical interests include trauma medicine and rural emergency medicine. With deep roots in Northern Ontario, she hopes to return to Timmins to serve her home community. Outside of medicine, Martine enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with family. |
Dr. Taylor Hammond Dr. Taylor Hammond grew up in Northern Ontario and completed both her undergraduate medical education and residency training at NOSM University. Outside of medicine, she enjoys mountain biking with her dog, paddling, and camping in her Boler trailer. She is excited to explore communities across Canada through rural emerg locums. She hopes to have a practice that includes both tertiary and rural emergency medicine. |

Dr. Sébastien Labelle Dr. Sébastien Labelle grew up in Timmins, completed medical school at NOSM University in Thunder Bay, and completed his Family Medicine residency in Kapuskasing through the NOSM University Rural Stream. Dr. Labelle has a strong interest in rural medicine and plans to pursue a combination of emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, and addiction medicine in Northeastern Ontario. Outside of medicine, Seb enjoys fishing, hunting, tennis, golf, cooking, and baking. |
Dr. Grant Lafontaine Dr. Grant Lafontaine was born and raised in North Bay, and Northern Ontario has always been his home. Outside of medicine, he is an avid outdoorsman, loves spending time with his family, and enjoy hands-on mechanical projects, especially restoring older vehicles. Grant is excited to continue his Emergency Medicine training at NOSM University. |
Dr. Taylor McGaughey Dr. Taylor McGaughey grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at the University of Ottawa, where she played varsity hockey for the Gee-Gees. She completed medical school and Family Medicine residency training at NOSM University. Taylor is excited to be joining the CCFP-EM program and is interested in trauma, point-of-care ultrasound, and medical education. Outside of medicine, she enjoys staying active, travelling, and spending time with family and friends – preferably on a patio at one of Sudbury’s local restaurants. |
Dr. Afsheen Mehar Dr. Afsheen Mehar is a physician from Pakistan. She completed her Family Medicine training at NOSM University and has special interest in medical education, psychological safety and wellness. She is a post grad learner at Harvard MGH -IHP focusing on Simulation in education as well. She plans to work in rural, remote and austere medicine. Outside of Medicine you will find her outdoors with either a drone or a kayak by her side. |
Dr. Tyler Randle Dr. Tyler Randle grew up in Thunder Bay. He completed his medical training at NOSM University and has spent time working as a Primary Care Paramedic as well as a Registered Nurse. His Interests include medical education & trauma. Outside of medicine Dr. Randle enjoys golf and spending time with his family.

Dr. Alex Vistorino Dr. Alex Vistorino completed his medical training and Family Medicine residency at NOSM University and completed an undergraduate degree in Biological Engineering from Guelph University and an MPH from Lakehead University. Alex’s interests include community and rural emergency medicine, quality improvement and point of care ultrasound. Outside of work Alex enjoys spending time with his family, biking and skiing. |
