Research Ethics Boards

All research involving human participants is required to adhere to the national standards for research ethics as outlined in the Tri Council Policy Statement Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2).

Research Ethics Boards (REB)

Lakehead University and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre have a harmonized process between their Research Ethics Boards. For information about this process, please click on the following link: Demystifying the process, Harmonization between Lakehead University and TBRHSC.

Note, when applying for Ethics approval through Laurentian or Lakehead University, you must submit your application through the ROMEO Research Portal system.  For Instructions see the ROMEO Systems Login User Guide. Please ensure you indicate “Faculty of Medicine” under the department in the ROMEO system.

Biosafety

Biosafety Permit applications must be submitted and receive approval before any work is conducted in the wet laboratory spaces.
