NOSM Invites Communities to Contribute to Time Capsules

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) marked a significant milestone this year – for the first time, NOSM MD Charter Class graduates who have undertaken family medicine residency at NOSM have completed their training and are fully-licensed physicians. In other words, there are now individuals who have successfully completed the full spectrum of medical education at the School; a journey which began with entry into NOSM’s MD program in 2005, and has now finished with the completion of NOSM’s family medicine residency training six years later, in 2011. Twelve New Members Appointed to NOSM Board of Directors

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) held its Annual Members and Board of Directors meetings on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. These meetings were video-linked between the School’s West Campus at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and its East Campus at Laurentian University in Sudbury, with other Directors participating via teleconference. The audited financial statements for the year ending April 30, 2011 were approved, and 12 new members were appointed to the Board of Directors. Study by NOSM Faculty Member Emphasizes the Need for Creative Promotion of Physical Activity in Sudbury-Area Call Centres

Promoting a physically active lifestyle in a fast-paced work environment, such as a call centre, requires creativity and a team effort, according to Sheila Renton, an occupational therapist and faculty member in NOSM’s Division of Clinical Sciences. The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) are co-hosting an Aboriginal Workshop entitled Living the Vision on May 25 – 27, 2011 in Sudbury, Ontario. This workshop, NOSM’s third Aboriginal forum, is a follow-up to the Follow Your Dreams workshop held in Wauzhushk Onigum in June 2003 and the Keeping the Vision workshop held at Fort William First Nation in August of 2006.
