Guidelines for the Use of GenAI in Teaching and Learning

NOSM U’s AI Working Group was convened in the Spring of 2024 with a mandate to collaborate and consult with the university community to develop NOSM U’s approach to using AI in teaching and learning. NOSM University collaborated with the leads of the Higher Education Strategy Associate’s highly successful AI Observatory to co-develop NOSM U’s guidelines.  After consulting with many of NOSM University’s interest holders, the first edition of the Guidelines for the Use of GenAI in Teaching and Learning were approved by the university’s Senate at its April 10, 2025 meeting.

The university gratefully acknowledges the contributions of the AI Working Group as well as the many interest holders for providing key insights and helpful feedback.

The Office of the Provost is pleased to issue the first edition of NOSM University’s Guidelines for the Use of GenAI in Teaching and Learning as well as the companion resource document.
