NOSM Faculty and Learner Receive National Accolades

In Ottawa on April 26 and 27, 2014, two faculty members and one learner from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) were lauded with national awards at the  Canadian Conference for Medical Education (CCME), the premier medical education conference in Canada which hosts the largest annual gathering of medical educators in the country. NOSM Receives Honour for Fifth Consecutive Year

On Friday, March 28, 2014, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) was presented with the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) Rural Medical Education Award. Each year, the SRPC awards an undergraduate medical program that has excelled matching the most graduates to rural family medicine programs through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) process. NOSM Unveils Simbulance at Northern Constellations Conference

Over 215 health-care professionals from across the North are participating in the Northern Ontario School of Medicine's (NOSM) third annual Northern Constellations 2014 Faculty Development Conference on April 4-5, 2014. NOSM Responds to High Suicide Rates in the North

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) has incorporated suicide awareness training into NOSM's MD curriculum in an effort to respond to the high rates of suicide in the region. First-year students at NOSM now undergo safeTALK training, a three-hour program created by LivingWorks that trains participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and to connect them with suicide first aid resources. Community-Based Emergency Care Empowers Northern Communities

A community-based approach to establish emergency care services in isolated and remote First Nation communities has been identified in a new report from researchers at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM).   On Friday, January 31, 2014, Dr. Roger Strasser, Dean of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), was awarded one of seven Special Awards for Outstanding Health Professional Educators. The awards were presented during the closing ceremonies of the weeklong, annual Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2014, this year held in Pattaya, Thailand. NOSM Seeks Members for Aboriginal Reference Group

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is seeking two (2) volunteer members to join its Aboriginal Reference Group (ARG): one (1) Aboriginal youth member (between 18 and 29 years of age), and one (1) Aboriginal health-care professional. The Aboriginal Reference Group is an integral part of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
