Beth Griffin
Meet Beth Griffin. After graduating from the University of Guelph’s applied human nutrition program in 2020, Beth took a two-year break to work in emergency food aid for children in the Greater Toronto Area. This helped her to make a meaningful decision to change her career path and pursue dietetics. Beth successfully completed the Northern Ontario Dietetic Internship Program—now the Dietetic Practicum Program (DPP)—in 2023, a decision that has proven immensely rewarding. Maddy began her journey with NOSM U in 2020 as a summer student with the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at the University of Manitoba in 2021 and her Dietetic Internship with NODIP in 2022. NODIP allowed her to explore a variety of areas in dietetics and discover her passion for clinical nutrition. She followed this passion back to her hometown of Kenora, Ontario and began her career as a Clinical Dietitian at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Kira completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba in Human Nutritional Sciences in 2008. During undergrad, Kira was hired with the NOSM Summer Studentship program at Thunder Bay District Health Unit and again at St. Joseph’s Care Group. In 2008/09, she completed the NODIP at the Thunder Bay site. Kira was the recipient of the Canadian Foundation of Dietetic Research National Morgan Medal for her practice-based research project on the Recruitment and Retention of Dietitians in Northern Ontario.
