Clinician Teaching Certificate

The Clinician Teacher Certificate (CTC) is a flexible program involving a combination of e-learning courses and in-person workshops, to be completed at your own pace within a two-year timeframe. The CTC offers tailored training opportunities for preceptors and faculty who want to expand their teaching practices and effectiveness in clinical settings.

Attendees of the Educational Sessions can take part in the CTC Workshops without needing to register for the CTC program. Participants are welcome to register for the CTC program to receive the credits from the two Workshops attended.

Workshop #1: Effective Verbal and Written Feedback

Explore best practices for providing both verbal and written feedback. We’ll have time to share what works and develop strategies together while exploring realistic cases

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the importance of effective verbal and written feedback to learner development.

2. Cultivate a psychologically safe learning environment when providing feedback to learners in the clinical setting.

3. Provide written and verbal feedback that is specific, actionable, and helpful for learners and other educators in the clinical learning environment.

Workshop #2: Supporting the Struggling Learner

In this workshop, we’ll explore the SOAP framework as a tool to help identify a struggling learner, initiate conversations with a struggling learner about the issue, assess the situation, and create a collaborative intervention plan.

1. Identify the importance of early identification of a struggling learner and intervention.
