NOSM University is fortunate to have so many dedicated individuals and organizations who have made generous donations towards various awards and bursaries. These funds help ease the financial burden of students and, in turn, help improve the health of the people of Northern Ontario by allowing students to focus more on becoming great medical practitioners.

Members of the Afro Heritage Association established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Barrick Gold/Hemlo Mine Bursary
Established in 2011 by the Barrick Gold/Hemlo Mine in Marathon, Ontario. The Barrick Gold Corporation ‐ Hemlo Mine Bursary recipient would be a NOSM University learner who has an interest in establishing a practice in a Northern rural community with preference given to a learner whose roots are from Marathon.

Ruth and Bert Baumann Memorial Bursary
Established in 2017 by the friends and family of Bert and Ruth Baumann. The bursary is available to any undergraduate medical student at NOSM University. The bursary is awarded based on financial need.

Ruth C. Black Memorial Award
Established in 2005 by Cliff Read, a friend of Ruth Black. Awarded to a student in any year of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

BMO Financial Group Bursary
Awarded to a student in any year of study at NOSM University. Student recipients will have resided in a Northern, rural or remote community, and will demonstrate financial need.

Bristol Machine Works Bursary
Bristol Machine Works Ltd. established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community and must demonstrate financial need.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada Inc. Bursary
Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada Inc. established this bursary in 2005 to benefit a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Bruce Mines Insurance Brokers Ltd. Bursary

Giuseppe Bruno Memorial Bursary
Dr. Giovanni Bruno and family established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need with consideration being given to first and second-generation immigrants to Canada.

Andrew Buttazzoni Bursary
Andrew Buttazzoni established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Phyllis and Dale Callaghan Bursary
The Phyllis and Dale Callaghan Bursary was established by Ben Callaghan and Justine Whitehead to honour Phyllis and Dale Callaghan, retired teachers with longstanding roots in Northwestern Ontario (Fort Frances, Rainy Lake, and Thunder Bay), who have dedicated their lives to education and made significant contributions to preserving the natural beauty and heritage of northwestern Ontario for present and future generations.  Preference will be given to those learners who completed three years of high school in a northern or northwestern Ontario community

Canadian Medical Association 150th Anniversary Award
Established by the CMA Foundation in celebration of the Canadian Medical Association’s 150th anniversary in Canada. The “Canadian Medical Association 150th Anniversary Award” is awarded to a full-time student at NOSM University. The recipient will demonstrate and exemplify the values of professionalism including honesty and integrity, altruism, respect, responsibility and accountability, commitment to self-improvement, dedication to professional self-regulation, and inter- and intra-professional collaboration and adherence to ethical codes of conduct. The Canadian Medical Association identifies medical professionalism as describing the attitudes, values, skills, and behaviours that are common to those undertaking the practice of medicine. Medical professionalism is the moral understanding among medical practitioners that gives reality to the social contract between medicine and society.

Canadian Medical Association 150th Anniversary Bursary
Established by the Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian Medical Association Foundation in celebration of their 150th anniversary in Canada. The “Canadian Medical Association 150th Anniversary Bursary” is awarded to a full-time student at NOSM University. The recipient will be in good academic standing and have financial need.

Club Montessori of Sudbury Bursary
The Club Montessori of Sudbury established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Fran Coleman Bursary
Established in 2011 by anonymous donors in recognition of Fran Coleman’s unwavering and strong support in her capacity as both a Town and District Councillor to the people of Huntsville and the District of Muskoka. This award is to thank Ms. Coleman for being a true champion for healthcare in Muskoka. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will demonstrate financial need and must be from a Northern, rural or remote community. Preference will be given to a student who is from Huntsville, ON or from the District of Muskoka.

Dr. John Cowan Bursary
Established in 2007 by Dr. John S. Cowan. The recipient must be a resident of a rural, Northern or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. There are two awards available, one at each campus.

Crosstown Chevrolet Bursary
Crosstown Chevrolet established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dalron Construction Ltd. Bursary
Dalron Construction Ltd. established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. William Bond Memorial Bursary
Established by the Estate of Ruth Eileen Day (daughter of Dr. William L. Bond), it is awarded to aid a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The recipient may be from any province or territory in Canada, with preference given to an individual from a rural or remote area, or a municipality with a population of under 35,000.

Bourse Dr. J.N. & Colette Desmarais Bursary
Established in 2011 by Collette Desmarais to benefit a full-time student at NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Docs On Ice 2016 Bursary
Established in April 2016 by the organizing committee of the Docs on Ice 2016 Hockey Tournament held in the Muskoka area of Ontario. Participants in this tournament come from communities across the province. For this reason, this bursary will be open to all students in any of the four years of the program. The purpose of this bursary is to provide financial assistance to a full time student at NOSM University.

Eli Lilly Canada Bursary
Eli Lilly Canada Ltd established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Edward Woronuik Memorial Award

The Edward Woronuik Memorial Award is established to benefit one student annually.

City of Elliot Lake Bursary
The Corporation of the City of Elliot Lake established this bursary to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Flakeboard Company Ltd. established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community and demonstrate financial need.

Fontaine & Associates Incorporated Bursary
Fontaine & Associates Inc. established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

The Gary Frederick Daily Acts of Kindness Bursary
Awarded to a student that exhibits compassion, inclusion, integrity and respect. Someone who makes those around them feel respected, included and valued and is not afraid to reach out those who need a friend or need support. Open to any student, there are no set terms to this award.

Frog’s Breath Foundation Bursary
Frog’s Breath Foundation established this bursary to benefit a resident of the District of Temiskaming who indicates a desire to return to the District to practice after graduation. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Colin and Anne Germond Bursary
Dr. Colin and Anne Germond established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Jim and Donna Gordon Bursary

Green Circle Environmental Bursary

Joan Hanton Memorial Bursary
Established in 2017 by the estate of Joan Hanton the bursary will support a student at NOSM University in any year.

Dr. Beverly Lewis Harris Bursary
Dr. Harris established this bursary for a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Heino & Biasiol Family Award
Established in 2014 by Members of the Heino & Biasiol Family. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University with financial need.

Holiday Inn Hotel Sudbury Bursary
The Holiday Inn Hotel Sudbury established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Corporation of the Town of Huntsville Bursary
The Corporation of the Town of Huntsville established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Peter Hutten-Czapski Bursary
Established in 2004 by Dr. Peter Hutten-Czapski. Awarded to a student based on financial need, in any year at NOSM University. Preference will be given to a student from a rural, northern community. There are two awards available one at each campus.

Independent Order of Odd Fellows Sudbury Lodge No. 282 Bursary
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows – Sudbury Lodge No. 282 established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Jakubowski Family Award
Established in 2014 by Larry and Pat Jakubowski. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University with financial need.

Dr. Zulfikar Juma Award for Meritorious Achievement
Established by Dr. Zulfikar Juma, is awarded to aid a full-time student in their fourth year of studies at NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The recipient of this award has gained the respect of their peers and faculty for exemplifying to the highest standards the core values of NOSM University. Considered an “Award of Excellence” this award will go to the individual who best demonstrates all-round excellence in academics, leadership in student government, has contributed to research projects, and participated in extracurricular volunteer activities.

Dr. Andrew Kuchtaruk and Family Bursary
The Kuchtaruk family established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Chris Lai Recognition Award
The Dr. Chris Lai Recognition Award was established to benefit NOSM University learners. The recipient must be in their fourth year of study. Preference will be given to learners who indicate an interest in Cardiology and remaining in Northwestern Ontario upon graduation.

Life Transformation Scholarship
Andy and Eva Wang established this bursary to benefit incoming Undergraduate students with disabilities. The recipient(s) can study at either campus and must identify has having a disability on their provincial or federal funding applications.

Little Current Medical Associates Bursary
The Little Current Medical Associates established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

The friends and family of Keith McFayden established this bursary in his honour and to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of of Northern Ontario and preference given to a NOSM University learner who attended the Lakehead School Board.

Dr. William and Mrs. Barb McCready Bursary
Established in 2005 by William and Barb McCready. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. J. B. McQuay Memorial Bursary
The physicians of Gore Bay and Mindemoya established this bursary to honour Dr. J. B. McQuay and to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Maimondes Bursary
Established in 2014 in recognition of Dr. Jacques Abourbih’s contribution to medical education the bursary is awarded to a full time student at NOSM. The recipient will provide an essay describing who Maimondes was and his importance to medical education. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Robert Maloney Bursary
Dr. Robert Maloney established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Marathon Family Practice Bursary
Established in 2005 by physicians of the Marathon Family Practice in Marathon, Ontario. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Massey and Area Medical Foundation Bursary
The Massey and Area Medical Foundation established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Mended Hearts Inc. Bursary
Mended Hearts Inc. established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. The recipient must demonstrate an interest in cardiovascular research.

Nash Family Bursary
Established by the Nash Family, and it is awarded to aid a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community and demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be or have been a registered member of a health care profession that is regulated in Ontario. These may include audiology and speech language pathologists, chiropodists, chiropractor, dental hygienists, dental surgeon, dental technologist, midwives, nurses, occupational therapists, opticians, optometrists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists, respiratory therapists.

North Bay and District Dental Association Bursary
The North Bay and District Dental Association established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

North Bay Psychiatric Hospital Medical Staff Association Bursary
The North Bay Psychiatric Hospital Medical Staff Association established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. The student recipient will show a demonstrated interest in Mental Health.

North Shore Industrial Wheel Manufacturing Bursary
North Shore Industrial Wheel Manufacturing established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Northern Healthcare Leadership Bursary
Established by the children of Ken and Aileen McCluskey, as a tribute to their parents, Dr. Kenneth and Aileen McCluskey. This bursary was inspired by their parents who tirelessly served the healthcare needs of the people of the North and health care providers who continue to do so. Awarded to aid a full-time student of NOSM University in their first, second or third year of the program. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community and must demonstrate financial need. Applicants must identify a healthcare issue in the North and either propose a method to measure its impact or propose testable solution(s). The proposal will be submitted to the Northern Ontario Medical Journal for consideration for publication.

Northern Ontario School of Medicine Faculty and Staff Bursary
The Faculty and Staff of NOSM University established this bursary to benefit a student in their first year at either campus of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Northridge Savings and Credit Union Bursary
Northridge Savings and Credit Union Limited established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

NOSM Board of Governors Leadership Award
The NOSM Board of Governors Leadership Award recognizes extraordinary leadership that honours one student each year entering the 4th Year of the NOSM MD program, who fosters social accountability and demonstrates excellence in leadership by engaging and guiding others in promoting emerging healthcare professionals and living NOSM’s vision, mission, values.

The NOSMSC Bursary for BIPOC Students
The NOSM University student Council established this bursary to benefit one student per campus who identifies as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour). The student may be in any academic year.

The NOSMSC Bursary for Students with Dependents
The NOSM University student Council established this bursary to benefit one student per campus who indicates on their bursary applications that they are responsible for dependent(s). The student may be in any academic year.

Palladino Honda Bursary
Palladino Honda established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Parisa Yik-See Chau Memorial Bursary
Dr. James Chau and Dr. Christine Pun established this bursary in memory of Parisa Yik-See to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

The Polish Combatants’ Association of Canada, Branch 24 Sudbury established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Francis L. Power Memorial Bursary
This award was created to aid a fourth year student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario, able to demonstrate financial need, and must be pursuing a specialty in General Surgery.

Purvis Marine Ltd. Bursary
Purvis Marine Ltd. established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Brian Scherman Memorial Bursary
Dr. Adegbite, Dr. Fadegbola Ogundimu, and Dr. Schneider established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Gordon and Pat Slade Bursary
This award was created by Gord and Patricia Slade with the goal of providing financial aid to Northern School of Medicine student. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient must have been a resident of a Northern Ontario rural community. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario, as defined by Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP).

Peter Strasser Bursary
The Founding Dean of NOSM University established this bursary in memory of his father Mr. Peter Strasser to benefit a full time student at NOSM University in good academic standing. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

City of Greater Sudbury Bursary
This award is given to a student in any year, at either campus of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community and must demonstrate financial need.

Greater Sudbury Utilities Bursary
Greater Sudbury Utilities established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is a resident of the City of Greater Sudbury or the Municipality of West Nipissing.

City of Timmins Bursary
The City of Timmins established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Anna and Mykola Wargaty Bursary
Anna and Mykola Wargaty established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Municipality of West Nipissing Bursary
The Corporation of the Municipality of West Nipissing established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Stadnyk Family Bursary
On September 26, 2015, colleagues, friends and family members gathered to celebrate Dr. Andrew Stadnyk, recipient of the 2014 College of Ontario Physicians Council’s Outstanding Physician Award. At this event the Stadnyk Family Bursary was established. The purpose of this bursary is to provide financial assistance to a full time student at NOSM University. Value is variable. Application is required

Steel 2000 Bursary
Steel 2000 Inc. established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Sudbury Family Health Group BIPOC Scholarship
Sudbury Family Health Group established this bursary to benefit one student per campus who identifies as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour). The student may be in any academic year. There are no further conditions of this bursary provided that the recipient has a demonstrated financial need.

Sudbury Mine Mill and Smelter Workers Union Local 598/Unifor Bursary (Formerly Canadian Auto Workers Bursary)
The Canadian Auto Workers established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. Preference will be given to students who show a demonstrated interest in any occupational diseases. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community who can demonstrate financial need.

Sudbury Suomi Lion’s Club Bursary
The Sudbury Suomi Lions Club established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Susan and Zoltan Weisz Memorial Bursary
Dr. Judith Woodsworth established this bursary in memory of her parents to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Suzanne Allain, Michael Siska & Family Bursary

The United Steelworkers Union 6500 and United Steelworkers Union 2020 established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. This award was created by the family of Dino Berardi with the goal of recruiting more physicians to Sault Ste. Marie. The award will aid a student of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. The recipient must be in their fourth year of studies and have illustrated an interest in establishing a practice in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

John and Patricia Malysh Bursary
These awards have been created to aid students of NOSM University. The following criteria are applicable to both awards: The recipient of each award must demonstrate financial need. George Simon Doubilet Bursary
Colleagues established this bursary to honour Dr. George Simon Doubilet and to benefit a full time student of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. The student recipient must demonstrate a strong interest in the sciences with preference given to one with an interest in math and/or physics.

Dr. Richard Drewe Memorial Bursary
When her husband began noticing the devastating effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ms. Theresa Drewe knew her husband needed medical help. At the time there were no specialized doctors in the Sudbury area forcing the Drewe’s down south to the Toronto area. After his lengthy battle with the disease came to an end, Ms. Drewe decided to create an endowment which would help young medical students research Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ms. Drewe believes that this is the best way to remember her husband and help in the fight for a cure. Ms. Theresa Drewe created this award with the purpose of establishing a bursary to benefit a full time student enrolled in any year at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the East campus.

Friend of Northern Ontario School of Medicine Bursary
Established by an anesthesiologist from Southern Ontario, who believes in the Mission, Vision & Values of NOSM, and who would like to provide financial assistance to the students as they work toward those goals. The Friend of NOSM University bursary is awarded to aid a full time student of NOSM University. Dr. Koka Bursary

F. Jean MacLeod Bursary
The F. Jean MacLeod Trust established this bursary to benefit a first year full-time student of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. The recipient must demonstrate financial need with preference being given to students who: are permanent residents, and have been permanent residents for the five years preceding enrollment in first year, of the City of Greater Sudbury, to students who are permanent residents, and have been permanent residents for the five years preceding enrollment in first year, of the area encompassed by: a line drawn south to north through the most westerly limit of the City of Sault Ste. Marie; a line drawn west to east through the most northerly limit of the Town of Kapuskasing; a line drawn north to south through the most easterly limit of the City of North Bay; and a line drawn east to west through a point of 75 kilometers due south of the most southerly limit of the City of Greater Sudbury; if no suitable applicant is a permanent resident of the areas described above, the awardee shall be any resident of Ontario selected by NOSM in its sole and absolute discretion.

David John Malysh Memorial Bursary
This award was created to aid a student of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. First time recipients must be enrolled in their first, second or third year of full time studies. The award may be payable to the recipient in one subsequent year based on available funding and provided the recipient remains in good academic standing in the School of Medicine. This award has been created to aid students of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be a full time student in the third year of studies at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario as defined by the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP). Preference will be given to an individual who has lived in Timmins for a minimum of 10 years. In any year, if no recipient meets this qualification, then the recipient should be an individual who has lived in Northeastern Ontario for a minimum of 10 years.

Abitibi-Consolidated Iroquois Falls established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University, whose registration is reported through the Laurentian campus. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need with preference being given to an applicant from Iroquois Falls.

Paul & Lilo Seelig Bursary
Established in February 2016 in memory of J. F. Paul Seelig, by his family. Paul came to Canada for a great adventure from his native Germany in 1957. He fell in love with the country. In 1973 he bought into Laurentian Insulations in Sudbury and in 1994 relocated the company to Capreol. Paul was a Master Mason and a former President and Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Sudbury He lived by their motto “Service Above Self”. Paul leaves a rich legacy and tangible remembrances of his skilled and excellent work in buildings around Sudbury and the North.

John Andrews Award in Medicine
The John Andrews Award in Medicine was established to benefit a student entering their first year at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. The recipient will have had long-term residency in Northwestern Ontario (Districts of Thunder Bay, Kenora or Fort Frances) evidenced by graduation from a Northwestern Ontario High School. The recipient will express the intention of practicing medicine in Northwestern Ontario upon graduation and will demonstrate an outstanding academic record and promise of success in the study of medicine and the practice of rural medicine. Financial need may be considered but only in cases where the above criteria have been met.

Provided on the basis of financial need to a student of NOSM University – Lakehead campus. The recipient will be from Northwestern Ontario or have resided in the region for five years prior to commencing studies at NOSM University.

Anne and Bernard Diklich Memorial Bursary
Established by Anne Sikkema in 2005 in loving memory of her parents Anne and Bernard Diklich. Awarded to a student in any year whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus at NOSM University. The student recipient will show a desire to practise medicine in the Kenora or Rainy River districts upon graduation. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Maureen Doig Memorial Award
Established in 2003 in loving memory by family and friends and to honour Maureen’s involvement with Lakehead University as a member of the Board for twelve years, and as the first woman to hold the position of Chair (1996-1998). This award will be provided to a female student whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus, who through volunteer activity demonstrates a commitment to community involvement. The recipient will be a resident of Ontario with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2012 by Iris Hartog to honor her fathers contributions to healthcare in Thunder Bay. The bursary is awarded to a student with an interest in global health, registered at the Lakehead University campus of NOSM.

Kevin L. Herman Bursary
Established in 2005 by Kevin L. Herman. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. The student will be from a northern, rural or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Shirley Inouye Memorial Award
Established in 2004 in loving memory by her husband, Eugene Kotyk, in honour of Dr. Inouye who was the first female physician to open a full-time practice in Thunder Bay and who maintained a general practice in Thunder Bay for more than thirty years. Based on a School of Medicine recommendation, the award will be provided to a student in financial need and who demonstrates those characteristics particularly important to the sensitive provision of family medicine. Preference will be given to students from Northwestern Ontario. It is the hope of the donor that the student recipient will return a similar gesture, or make a gift of some kind in the future.

Insurance Institute of Ontario – Northwestern Chapter Bursary
Established in 2005 by the Insurance Institute of Ontario – Northwestern Chapter. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. Established in 2005 by the Thunder Bay Community Foundation in recognition of Dr. Morton’s work as a physician in Northern Ontario. Northwestern Ontario Dental Association Bursary
Established in 2005 by the Northwestern Ontario Dental Association. Awarded to a student in any year whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus at NOSM University. Dr. J. Campbell Pearson Memorial Award
Established in 2003 by family, friends and colleagues in honour of Dr. Pearson who practised surgery in Thunder Bay from 1955 to his retirement. Awarded to a student in any year at the Lakehead campus of NOSM University, is a Ontario resident and who demonstrates financial need.

Frances Guzzi Picherack Saydana Award
Established in 2006 by Frances Guzzi Picherack, a Lakehead University nursing and education alumna. Awarded to a student in any year at the Lakehead campus of NOSM University. The student recipient will demonstrate financial need, be an Ontario resident and demonstrate an interest in, or have past experience with complementary or alternative medicine and healing. “Saydana” is a Sanskrit word which means “giving from the heart with no expectation of return”.

Rotary Club of Thunder Bay (Fort William) Bursary
Awarded to a student in their third year of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. Preference will be given to a student who indicates a sincere intent to practice medicine in Northwestern Ontario. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Established in 2009 by the Lakehead Rotary Club of Thunder Bay. Awarded to a student in any year of study at NOSM University and who demonstrates financial need.

Established in 2005 and awarded to a student from a northern, rural or remote community, in any year, whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Abitibi-Consolidated Company of Canada established this bursary to benefit full time students of NOSM University. One Laurentian registered student and one Lakehead registered student to be awarded this bursary. James and Shirley Symington Bursary
Established in 2005 by James and Shirley Symington. Awarded to a student in any year whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus at NOSM University. The applicant will have been a resident of Northwestern Ontario for the past 5 years with preference given to applicants from the Kenora, Rainy River and Thunder Bay districts. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

City of Thunder Bay Bursary
Established in 2004, this bursary is provided to an entrance student in NOSM University, whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus, on the basis of financial need, with preference given to students from Thunder Bay. It is the hope of the City of Thunder Bay that the recipient will establish her/his medical practice in the City of Thunder Bay.

The Lakehead Motors Limited Endowment
Established in 2015 by Michael Comuzzi. the Lakehead Motors Limited Endowment is awarded to a student enrolled in any year of NOSM University. The recipient will have a minimum of 10 (ten) years combined attendance in elementary and secondary schools in the District of Thunder Bay and demonstrates financial need.

Thunder Bay Diocesan Council, Catholic Women’s League of Canada Bursary
Awarded to a female student in any year at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. Preference will be given to a student who expresses an interest in establishing her practice in the Thunder Bay Diocese of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Thunder Bay Medical Society Bursary
Established in 2004 by the Thunder Bay Medical Society. Awarded to a first year student at NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. The recipient will have been a resident of Thunder Bay for a minimum of five years and will demonstrate financial need.

Thunder Bay Metro Lion’s Club Bursary
Established in 2005 and awarded to a student in any year of NOSM University whose registration is reported through the Lakehead campus. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

William Campbell Hunter Memorial Bursary
Established in 2008 by the Estate of William Campbell Hunter. Awarded to a student in any year of study at NOSM University and who is registered through the Lakehead campus. The recipient will possess a nursing degree and a demonstrated interest in geriatrics/gerontology. The recipient will be a resident of Ontario and will demonstrate financial need.

William G. Heath Annual Award
Established in 2012 by Bill Heath. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University, the student recipient will be a registered at the West Campus and demonstrate financial need.

Wing and Sophia Chow Family Bursary
This bursary was established by the Chow Family in honour of their parents. Wing and Sophia Chow are landed immigrants who have lived in Thunder Bay for 60 years. They are retired farmers who dedicated their lives to providing opportunities of academic and personal growth for their children. All five of their children attended Lakehead University with four continuing on to graduate from medical schools. Wing and Sophia have always been great advocates of education. To the Chow family there is no greater personal legacy than investing in the lives of others. The bursary will be awarded to a first year NOSM University student who is a graduate of Lakehead University and a Thunder Bay High School.

Marie, who can be defined as a student having attended the majority of elementary and secondary years of study in the City of Sault Ste. Marie; resident of Algoma District.

Established by Scotiabank, and it is awarded to aid a student in any year of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need. Value is variable. Application is required.

Scottish Rite Award
This award was created to aid two students of NOSM University whose registration is reported through each campus. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation concentrates its efforts in support of research into the causes of intellectual impairment, especially as it affects children and persons of advanced years in the form of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Shave for Hope Bursary
The Greater Sudbury Police Service established this bursary to aid a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students from the geographical area of the City of Greater Sudbury, as defined by the City’s geographic boundaries.

Sudbury Ukrainian Co-operative Bursary
This award was created in November 2011 to aid a student in NOSM University. Formed at the dissolution of the Sudbury Ukrainian Co-operative. This bursary will serve as a testimonial to all members of the Co-operative who strove to serve the needs of the Ukrainian population in the City of Greater Sudbury. The award recipient must be enrolled full time in NOSM University and must demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario, as defined by the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP). Preference will be given to a student who is from Ukrainian descent. If there is no student of Ukrainian descent, preference will be given to a student who is from the City of Greater Sudbury.

Sheila Tyndall established this bursary in memory of her father, Neil, her mother, Dorothy and her brother, Ross to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must have attended a secondary school within 100 kilometers of the Laurentian Campus of NOSM University.

Marjorie Eileen Poling Adams Memorial Award
Established in 2004 in loving memory by her husband Gerald Poling. Awarded to a student from a northern, rural or remote community, in any year, at NOSM University who shows financial need. It is the donor’s hope that the recipient will take special interest in cancer research and practice in Northwestern Ontario.

AIM Higher Bursary
Established in 2010 by the AIMS Project team. The AIMS project team is responsible for all information management systems at NOSM, the team is passionate about all aspects at the school and is committed to improving healthcare in the North. The bursary is awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Joan Babij HSN Volunteer Association Bursary (formerly Sudbury Regional Hospital Volunteer Association Bursary).
Established in 2011 by the Sudbury Regional Hospital Volunteer Association. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be from a northern, rural or remote community. The student recipient will have been raised in the area of the city of Greater Sudbury. The student recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Bishop Alexander Carter Foundation Bursary
Established by the Bishop Alexander Carter Foundation, this bursary is awarded to aid a student of NOSM University. The student recipient must be a resident of the geographic area included in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie. This will be defined as a student having attended the majority of elementary and secondary years of study within this stated region. A map showing the boundaries of this Diocese is attached to these terms. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Reverend Canon David and Mrs. Nora Bradford Memorial Bursary
Established in 2005 by the Bradford family in memory of their parents. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient will be a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

Bring a Doctor Home Bursary
The Bring a Doctor Home Bursary was established by the employees of Algoma Steel Inc. to benefit a fourth (4th) year student of NOSM University. The recipient must be from the geographical area of Sault Ste. Marie including Wawa and Thessalon and is a child or grandchild of a current or retired employee of Algoma Steel. Preference will be given to a 4th year student who plans to practice medicine in the geographical area of Sault Ste. Marie including Wawa and Thessalon. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Established in 2006 by Mrs. Mary Buck. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Cardinal Bursary
Established by Linda Acton-Riddle in memory of her husband Dr. Gordon E. Riddle, who passed away in July, 2013. The cardinal (bird) was a recurring theme in the life of Dr. Riddle. Upon his passing, many members of the family experienced a “cardinal experience” during which a cardinal was seen to be visiting those closest to him. This bursary has been established to honor his life and the ever present cardinal in the family. This bursary is awarded to aid a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be an elected member of the NOSM University student Society Executive Group. Preference will be given to a recipient who grew up in Northeastern Ontario, including the Bracebridge/Muskoka area. Value is variable. Application is required.

Established in 2005 by James Cochrane. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Barbara and Jack Cohen Memorial Bursary
The Cohen family established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need with preference being given to students from the geographic area of the District of Algoma.

Community First Good Neighbour Bursary
This award was established to benefit a full-time student of NOSM University.  The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate community involvement and financial need.  Preference will be given to a student selected according to the following descending order; from Saul Ste. This award was created to aid a student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient will be in their final year of study, and will have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in gerontology or oncology.

This award was established by Dr. Gerry Cooper and his wife Sharon in 2009. This award was created to aid a student of NOSM University. The recipient must be enrolled full time at the School of Medicine, be a resident of Ontario, able to demonstrate financial need, and must hold an elected position on the Executive of the NOSM University student Society. Established in 2010 by the friends and family of Dr. R.W. Denniston who was a physician in Sudbury. The recipient must demonstrate a strong level of involvement in athletics and/or student government. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Dr. Thomas P. and Barbara P. Dixon Memorial Bursary
This bursary is established in memory of Dr. Thomas Dixon and his wife Barbara. Dr. Dixon was an early pioneer in Psychiatry in Sudbury and his wife Barbara, worked with him as a Psychiatric Nurse. Together they worked in Sudbury and throughout Northeastern Ontario to help patients suffering from mental illness. This bursary is to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. Kinsmen Club of Sudbury Award
The Kinsmen Club of Sudbury established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students having resided in the geographical area of Sudbury, Ontario.

Joan Klemacki Bursary
Established in 2006 by the Estate of Ms Joan Klemacki. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Noëlle Ladouceur Bursary
An anonymous donor established this award to benefit a student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community in Ontario with preference being given to students from Northern Ontario communities. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Charles and Margaret McKever Memorial Annual Award
Established in 2013 by Jim and Debra McKever in honor of Jim’s parents. Charles and Margaret, both returned to post-secondary school as mature students to pursue new career opportunities. They understood the commitment and dedication it takes to make such a significant life change. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University with financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is from Northwestern Ontario and is pursuing medicine as a second career.

Dr. Avdesh Mathur Bursary
The friends and family of Dr. Avdesh Mathur established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community and demonstrate financial need.

Gordon Merrill Memorial Bursary
Established in 2004 by Dr. Daniel and Mrs. Susan Hunt in loving memory of Susan’s father. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University who is an Ontario resident and demonstrates financial need.

Minnow Lake Lions Club Bursary
Minnow Lake Lions Club established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. Preference will be given to a student from the City of Greater Sudbury. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community and demonstrate financial need.

Lise Moore Memorial Bursary
Monique Schler established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a resident of the Greater City of Sudbury, as defined by the City’s geographic boundaries.

City of North Bay Bursary
The Corporation of the City of North Bay established this bursary to benefit a student of NOSM University. The student recipient will be from a northern, rural or remote community and will demonstrate financial need.

Northern Credit Union Ltd. Bursary
The Northern Credit Union established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote Ontario community who can demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be from a community in which a Northern Credit Union operates as listed below, in no specific order of importance: Thunder Bay, Red Rock, Hornepayne, Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Richards Landing, Thessalon, Elliot Lake, Chapleau, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Englehart, Capreol, Garson, Sudbury, Coniston, North Bay, Deep River, Pembroke, Barry’s Bay, Eganville and Arnprior.

Northern Diabetes Health Network Bursary
Established by the Northern Diabetes Health Network, this bursary is awarded to aid a student of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate an interest in diabetes care and/or research. Preference is given to a student who is from Northern Ontario. Value is variable. Application is required.
Ruth and Jack O’Neill Memorial Bursary Friends and family of Ruth Evelyn O’Neill established this memorial bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students from the City of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area.

Dr. H.Lynn Sargeant Burary
This award was created in September 2011 to aid a student in NOSM University. Named in honour of Dr. H. Lynn Sargeant an outstanding physician and community builder in the District of Muskoka, ON. It is the intent of the Dean’s Solicitation Team, the founder of this bursary, to raise additional funds by hosting events honouring outstanding leaders in the healthcare field in Muskoka. The award recipient must be a resident of Ontario. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is from Huntsville, ON or from the District of Muskoka.

Dr. J.J. Sheahan and S.A. Townend Bursary
Evelyn Townend established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. In the case of students meeting an equal financial need, applicant preference will be given in the following descending order; a student who grew up in Northern Ontario, a student who grew up in rural Ontario, a student who grew up in rural Canada.

Roy and Irene Stewardson Bursary
Established in 2005 by the Estate of Myrtle Irene Stewardson. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Mrs. Ruby T. and Dr. Melville J. Swartz Memorial Bursary
Established in 2009 by Jill Swartz, Jo Swartz and Richard Silverman and, Mark, Helen, Sarah and Zachary Swartz in honor of their parents and grandparents. Dr. Mel Swartz was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay) and graduated from Queen’s University in Medicine in 1937. He interned in Vancouver, then worked in Alaska and northern BC. Volunteering with the British in the Second World War, Mel served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in India, Burma and the Pacific area. He returned to Canada after the war, and completed training as a Urologist at Queen’s. For 45 years, he practiced Urology in Winnipeg. Mel Swartz was dedicated to his work and to his patients who loved him. Ruby, his dear wife, was a poet in her own right and Mel’s moral compass, greatest love and kindred spirit. For sixty years, they delighted in theatre, ballet, symphony, and opera. When Mel retired, age 81, they donated the substantial collection of Inuit Art which had crowded every inch of his office walls to The Winnipeg Art Gallery. Ruby and Mel valued their family and friends, the arts, education, integrity, honesty and fun. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

City of Temiskaming Shores Bursary
Established in 2010 by the City of Temiskaming Shores. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be a Northern Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Mary Gelsomina (Jill) Trevisanutto Memorial Bursary
Established in 2006 by Norman Trevisanutto in memory of his mother. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Afrodite Tsianou Bursary
Established in 2005 by Dr. Catherine Mitchell in honour of Dr. Tsianou’s work as a dedicated physician in Northern Ontario. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University, who is an Ontario resident and who demonstrates financial need.

Dr. Paul & Victoria Watson Bursary
Established in 2006 by Dr. Paul & Victoria Watson. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Dr. Keith Wilkes Memorial Bursary
Established in 2005 by Dr. Stephen Arif and friends in honour of Dr. Wilkes, work as a dedicated rural physician who practised for thirty years in Terrace Bay, Ontario. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. Preference will be given to a student who is from a small Northern Ontario community of less than ten thousand people closest to Terrace Bay. The recipient must be resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Cass Family Indigenous Scholarship
Established in 2017 by the Cass Family to provide a scholarship to a first year Indigenous learner. The recipient will be the highest ranked self identified Indigenous learner who applied through the Indigenous stream at NOSM. Determination of ranking will be by the NOSM Admissions Committee and recommended by the Indigenous Admissions Sub-Committee as having a strong cultural connection.

Do Yoga – Inspire a Doctor! Bursary
Awarded to aid a full-time student of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Upon completion of the initial $10,000 endowment the interest earned will be awarded to a student of Aboriginal (First Nation, Inuit and Métis) descent. Once the endowment has reached $20,000, the interest earned will be awarded to an Aboriginal student and a second bursary with preference to an individual who has shown strong involvement with the Italian community. Once the endowment has reached $30,000 the interest earned will be awarded to an Aboriginal student, a 2nd bursary will be awarded with preference to an individual who has shown strong involvement with the Italian community and a 3rd award to a single parent.

Dojack Family Bursary
Established in 2010 by the Dojack Family. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be a Northwestern Ontario resident, of Indigenous descent and demonstrate financial need.

Bonnie Moore Bursary
Created in 2009 by Bonnie Moore. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be of Aboriginal or Métis descent. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student registered at NOSM West (Lakehead University). If a NOSM West student does not fit the above criteria the award may be granted to a student registered through NOSM East (Laurentian University).

Clint Peltier Memorial Bursary
Dr. Elizabeth A. Schneider established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University who is enrolled in year 1, 2, or 3 at the School of Medicine for the next year with successful completion of the current year. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be of Aboriginal, Métis or Inuit descent. The recipient must complete a 500-1000 word essay on a topic to be supplied each year.

Allan E. Salo Memorial Bursary
Established by the estate of Allan E. Salo who passed away February 2013. This bursary is awarded to aid a full-time student at NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a recipient who is of Indigenous descent. Value is variable. Application is required.

Charles and Helen Slattery Bursary
Established in 2005 by Helen Slattery. The Charles and Helen Slattery Bursary is awarded to a student of Indigenous origin enrolled in any year at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need.

Jane Yesno Memorial Bursary
Established in 2008 by the family of Jane Yesno. Awarded to a student in any year at NOSM University. The student recipient will be of Indigenous descent. The student recipient will be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need.

Rotary Club of Sudbury Indigenous Learner Award
The Rotary Club of Sudbury established this award to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must self-identify as Indigenous.

Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie Bursary
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need. The recipient will also be selected on the following criteria, in descending order of importance; a female first nations student as defined by NOSM University, a female student.

Union Gas Aboriginal Bursary
Union Gas Transmission – Canada established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural or remote community for a minimum of 10 years and demonstrate financial need and must be of Indigenous descent.

Vale Canada Limited Bursary
CVRD Inco Limited established this bursary to benefit a full time student of NOSM University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and self-identify as Indigenous. Preference will be given to learners from the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, Wahnapitae First Nation and the Métis Nation of Ontario.

Dr. J. Anawati established this award to benefit a full time student at NOSM University. The recipient must be a resident of a Northern, rural, or remote community and financial need is not a requirement. The recipient will be selected by the following criteria in descending order: the recipients must be from the geographic area of West Nipissing; the recipients must be a Francophone from the geographic area of Nipissing; the recipients must be a Francophone.
