Lending 3D printers to produce PPE
NOSM donated its 3D printer and recommended an open-source design for local faceshield headband production, helping produce local PPE. Natalie Lefort, NOSM Research Laboratory Coordinator helped coordinate this effort. She found the 3D blueprint design for the facemask frame. She also coordinated moving Dr. Greg Ross' 3D printer (housed at NOSM) to HSNRI. Dr. Greg Ross and his team also helped coordinate this effort. Learn more....

In Thunder Bay, NOSM medical students are volunteering with the Regional Food Distribution Association (RFDA) and Shelter House Thunder Bay to help with increased need for food and meals. Students are helping with morning food preparation and they’ve signed up to cook dinners at the Shelter House a few times a week. Brittany Pennock and Joseph Boyle, second-year NOSM medical students in Thunder Bay gave an on-air interview with CBC Radio Thunder Bay. The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) held its regular board meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 using telephone and online technology to accommodate a virtual meeting. Highlights of the discussion and decisions include: Sarita Verma, NOSM Dean, President and CEO, provided the Board with an update regarding the monitoring of COVID-19 for NOSM learners, faculty and staff.
