Reporting

The Regional Clinical Liaison reports to the Director, Health Sciences and Program Development.

Responsibilities

Clinical Capacity Development & Regional Engagement (60%)

  • Identify and cultivate new clinical rotation opportunities within hospitals, family health teams, and community clinics
  • Actively recruit Northern PAs to serve as clinical preceptors, leveraging professional connections to build interest in the clinical teaching model
  • Conduct site visits and meet to identify and address local challenges or administrative obstacles that may limit preceptor participation
  • Partner with the Clinical Placement Coordinator to identify regional gaps and ensure development efforts are targeted effectively
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Course Director to facilitate a seamless transition for new preceptors

Learner Recruitment & Regional Outreach (30%)

  • Represent the PA Consortium at regional career fairs, secondary schools, and post-secondary institutions to increase interest in the PA profession and the program
  • Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and the NOSM University Admissions and Recruitment Unit to support recruitment and admission initiatives, ensuring prospective Northern candidates are well-informed of the application process
  • Focus outreach efforts on prospective candidates from Northern Ontario with the goal of increasing the number of qualified applicants from the region

Strategic Collaboration & Program Governance (10%)

  • Represent the regional interests of the Northern Stream by attending and contributing to required program meetings
  • Provides regular updates regarding regional capacity trends, barrier-resolution strategies, and outreach outcomes
  • Maintain close functional relationships with staff at both NOSM University and the University of Toronto to ensure regional activities align with Consortium-wide goals

Qualifications

Éducation

  • Must be a Physician Assistant in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant in Northern Ontario
  • Currently holds a NOSM University Faculty Appointment
  • Demonstrated experience supervising PA learners in a clinical setting
  • Deep understanding of the unique clinical environments and healthcare landscape in Northern Ontario
  • Proven ability to build professional rapport and navigate clinical environments to foster collaborative educational partnerships
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address administrative or clinical barriers to learner supervision
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the designated region

Langue

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
  • French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset

Remuneration

  • As per the stipendiary faculty remuneration process

Time Commitment

  • The equivalent of one and one-quarter (1.25) days per week
