Laboratoires de l’EMNO

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) maintains state-of-the-art biomedical research facilities at multiple sites in Northern Ontario. These facilities are designed to serve the needs of investigators living across the region, consistent with our fully distributed academic institution.

Highlights of our infrastructure include two multipurpose biomedical research facilities associated with each main campus, as well as dry lab facilities optimized for research in behavioral sciences, high performance computing, history of medicine, medical geography, and many other disciplines. NOSM scientists also work in a host of clinical sites across the region, addressing the clinical issues that impact our residents so dramatically.

Our facilities are shared with our academic partners in the North, including our host universities (Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Laurentian University in Sudbury), cancer centers and hospitals. Collaboration is a key theme to all of our research programs, and the interaction of investigators from all of our partner organizations greatly facilitates multi-disciplinary studies.

All research facilities at NOSM have been designed with integration in mind. Major infrastructure components are networked within our information management systems, offering outstanding efficiencies in the use of our technology.  Equipment at the East Campus, for example, can be easily accessed by researchers at the West Campus, and vice versa. In addition to the value this integration provides our funding partners (equipment need not be duplicated) it allows our learners to study with academic leaders from a variety of backgrounds and locations
