Social Accountability Fellowship

A Collaboration to Advance Impact, Accreditation, and Leadership
by The Network: TUFH, NOSM University, and The University of Limerick

The goal of this fellowship is to design and implement social accountability principles and standards in your institution to better respond to the priority health needs of your societies, communities, and contexts.

Anyone can apply to this fellowship opportunity, but successful applicants will be individuals representing a team of at least two from their institution (individuals may apply, but institutional support is required). This fellowship is geared for institutional leadership who are committed to and are able to implement social accountability in their respective institutions.

Applicants and team members should be in some form of institutional leadership who are able to provide the selection committee with a letter of agreement detailing their institutional and team-based intent to create an action plan for implementing social accountability in their contexts. Recommended Fellowship teams will be composed of at least two of the following: deans, associate deans, senior administrators, directors and implementation leads.  The identified Fellowship lead should submit an application on behalf of their team and institution and enter all questions related to the applicant below.

Applications for this fellowship launch on September 7th 2023, and the deadline for submissions is October 7th 2023, with selection results being announced on October 26th 2023 at the TUFH 2023 Conference closing ceremony.

Successful teams will receive a stipend of $1000.00 USD, which can be paid out directly to your institution or used to fund registration for the 2024 TUFH Annual Conference or the International Conference on Academic Medicine (ICAM) conferences at which fellows may present their work. Stipends will only be paid at the conclusion of the fellowship, provided that at least one representative of the team has attended all fellowship sessions and successfully completed all tasks related to the fellowship.

The Social Accountability Fellowship begins in November 2023 and concludes in July 2024, with 1 mandatory fellowship session per month, being held on the second Tuesday of each month at UTC: 2:00-4:00 PM. In addition to these sessions, each team is expected to work on their action plan between sessions (details will be made available during the introductory session). The fellowship will end in July 2024 when each team will present their action plan and results to an international and intersectoral audience.

Please complete and submit the application form by October 7th 2023.
