Burnout
On the opposite spectrum of wellness is burnout, a significant issue among healthcare professionals. Burnout is the exhaustion of physical or emotional strength or motivation usually as a result of prolonged stress or frustration.
Signs of Burnout:
- Decreased satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.
- Loss of motivation.
- Sense of failure and self-doubt.
- Negativity; loss of empathy.
- Physical symptoms of stress include fatigue, headache, and muscle tension.
