Reporting directly to the Senior Director, UME Administration, the Coordinator of Program Evaluation will manage evaluation activities related to the development of a fully accredited undergraduate MD program. The Coordinator will be responsible for development, implementation, and administration of processes, procedures and policies to aid in the evaluation of educational programs in Phases 1, 2 and 3 at NOSM University. This position’s primary responsibility is to the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) portfolio but may assist in the evaluation of other programs at NOSM University.

This position interacts with the Director of Assessment and Program Evaluation who provides collegial and collaborative supervision, leadership and guidance to this position which shall include delegating tasks and responsibilities and will also contribute to the performance review.

Responsabilités

Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Liaises with physicians, other health professionals, NOSM University staff and faculty, and educators in the design and creation of evaluation instruments and related support materials for the University’s programs.
  2. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director, UME Administration and the general guidance of the Director, Assessment and Program Evaluation and in collaboration with others, coordinates the evaluation process from conceptualization stage, through implementation, to the summation and delivery of results using a designated process; some of these tasks include:
    • producing concise and detailed reports and practical recommendations for change for target groups
    • identification of necessary resources,
    • creation of work plans,
    • overseeing the evaluation development process according to the work plan,
    • identifying and seeking resources necessary to support development and delivery,
    • assessing evaluation instruments and processes and implementing necessary revisions, analyzing and managing routine qualitative and quantitative data from internal and external data sources (i.e., Graduate Questionnaire),
    • analyzing and managing non-routine evaluation data from new curricular initiatives and quality improvements,
  1. Ensures that the data collected is reported accurately and confidentially in accordance with the policies and procedures of the University.
  2. Ensure that program evaluation data is stored securely in accordance with UME data management policies.
  3. Assists with the implementation and maintenance of processes and systems in keeping with current protocols and procedures to ensure that all important aspects of the UME curriculum are evaluated.
  4. Serves as the primary liaison between the Office of Program Evaluation and stakeholders, communicating with colleagues, senior leadership, faculty members, executive group members, internal and external stakeholders to disseminate program evaluation reports and results.
  5. Serves as a staff member to the UME Program Evaluation Committee.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Éducation

  • A degree in a relevant area (Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Measurement) from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • A master’s level degree is a considerable asset

Connaissances, Compétences et Capacités

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in evaluation of curriculum and instruction Working with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Proficiency with a major statistical package (SPSS, SAS, etc.)
  • Working in a post-secondary educational and/or health setting an asset
  • Working in interactive small-group learning environments
  • Working with relevant evaluation tools and methodologies such as survey design methods
  • Working with large amounts of data and using data reduction methods to highlight important themes
  • Experience in evaluation design processes and data analysis
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • A thorough understanding of distance and distributed learning issues
  • Experience with on-line educational platforms and other multimedia educational tools
  • Strong oral presentation skills
  • The Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations that apply to the work being performed
  • Co-ordinate the evaluation design process as it involves distance and group process
  • Be a team leader as well as to work independently
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication skills
  • Proven experience in the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions within position’s scope of authority

Langue

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
  • French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
