Max is a part-time Research Associate (Research Engagement) with the Centre for Social Accountability, and a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto (2021-2023) where he is working on a postdoctoral book project on critiques of conspiratorial thinking.
Max’s research focuses on critical approaches to religion, health, and society. He is the author of a book on secular and religious approaches to time and history (Postsecular History. Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), and a book on how violence is reflected in language and thinking (Ontologies of Violence. Brill, 2023).
His work with the Centre for Social Accountability is focused on research engagement, communications and grant writing, the epistemology of social accountability, and the relationship between conspiracy theories and public health.
