In September 2019, NOSM U assumed responsibility for data collection and storage for the Tracking Study of NOSM students and Residents, and the Graduate Outcomes Survey, previously collected and stored by the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research (CRaNHR) – Laurentian for NOSM U. Given that the purpose of these multi-year, multi-method studies are to measure and understand the impact of NOSM U, NOSM U hopes to assemble a complete longitudinal dataset of past and current students and graduates for research purposes.

The conditions under which these data are collected and stored are governed by Research Ethics Boards (REBs) at Laurentian University and Lakehead University. NOSM U has taken measures to ensure that participation in the survey, survey responses, and whether or not consent is given to transfer data to NOSM U will not be used to assess the academic performance of NOSM U medical students or residents.
