The more experience you have in Northern Ontario or in rural/remote communities in the rest of Canada, the more your application is strengthened. The majority of incoming students to NOSM University have had significant living experience in Northern Ontario or rural/remote areas in Canada. The context score, which is based on where you have lived throughout your life in Canada, makes up approximately 1/3 of your pre-interview score.
NOSM University’s aim is to have class profiles that reflect the demographics of the Northern Ontario population by recruiting students who have lived in Northern Ontario and/or students who have a strong interest in, and aptitude for, practising medicine in Northern urban, rural, remote, Indigenous and Francophone communities.
