Student Research at NOSM

Since 2006, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine has been supporting student research through such programs as the Dean’s Summer Medical Student Research Awards, the Heart and Stroke Foundation Summer Medical Students Research Awards, and the Mach-Gaensslen Summer Medical Student Research Awards. The summer studentships provide an opportunity for medical students to pursue hands-on research in a broad range of areas, with NOSM faculty members in biomedical, social and clinical sciences. In addition to NOSM supported research awards there are a number of external funding opportunities.

On completion of their summer projects students are encouraged to present their research at the Northern Health Research Conference, an annual event which highlights research and researchers from Northern Ontario.
