Competition Number: 2025-2052-RCTeam Leaders assist the Director, Health Sciences Library and Data Stewardship in assigning work to, and monitoring attendance of, Health Science Library staff (not including other Librarians) as well as resolving minor concerns and complaints. They also assist the Director in identifying work processes, level of service, and areas needing improvement in the Library.
The Team Leader reports to the Director, Health Sciences Library and Data Stewardship and works cooperatively with other Library staff.
Compensation for this administrative role as per the Unit 1 Collective Agreement (Ref. Article 4.13 c)).
Responsibilities
- Assist in assigning work to, and monitoring attendance of, Health Sciences Library staff (not including other Librarians).
- Assist with resolving minor concerns and complaints.
- Assist the Director in identifying work processes, level of service and areas needing improvement.
- Report to the Director, Health Sciences Library and Data Stewardship in their role.
Qualifications
Education
- A Masters’ level degree in Library or Archival Studies (MLS/ MLIS/ MIST) from an ALA accredited or equivalent institution is required
- Must hold a NOSM U Librarian Appointment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a leadership position is required.
- Evidence of strong leadership and decision making skills is required.
- Evidence of strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English is required.
- Evidence of ability to be an effective team player and team leader is required.
Language
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
