Northern Constellations

Important Update:

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine, in consultation with the Physician Clinical Teachers Association and Health Canada Guidelines (related to COVID-19) is cancelling Northern Constellations 2020. Letter from Dr. Janice Willet – March 12, 2020.

NOSM is committed to high quality medical education and professional development as well as supporting the health needs of Northern Ontario. While this decision has been a difficult one, it is the right decision to decrease the risk of a significant number of clinicians requiring isolation or quarantine due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, which would further impact the provision of health care in Northern Ontario.

We are planning a Virtual Mini Northern Constellations educational program on the afternoon of May 8th which will feature Dr. Ken Milne sharing his expertise on providing care during COVID-19 to our patients, colleagues and ourselves. In addition, we are pursuing a date and venue for Northern Constellations, 2021.  Updates will be available on our CEPD website.

Please note that all charter deposits, hotel room bookings and registration fees will be refunded. All registrants will be contacted.

For further information, please contact cepd@nosm.ca.

Thank you.

Join us at Northern Constellations!

Join us as Northern Ontario School of Medicine hosts Northern Constellations, our annual faculty development conference in the spring of each year. Northern Constellations is the largest physician and faculty meeting in Northern Ontario. The Conference provides a forum to share new ideas in medical education and health care along with opportunities to network with colleagues.

Northern Constellations was established in 2012 as a faculty development and engagement opportunity for NOSM’s faculty who are distributed across 90 educational sites in Northern Ontario.  The Conference is designed to further develop faculty with their various responsibilities:  teaching and preceptoring; research and scholarly activity; faculty and learner wellness/resiliency; collaborative leadership; and partners in the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. During the conference, faculty attend a series of plenaries and workshops allowing each attendee to address their personal learning needs.  Northern Constellations uses an integrated approach to faculty development with attendance of faculty involved in undergraduate, postgraduate, or continuing educational professional development activities. Due to the vast geographical distances between NOSM educational sites, specific initiatives support formal and informal networking including the cluster of affiliated meetings linked to Northern Constellations.
