Provost and Vice-President, Academic
NOSM University (NOSM U) is pleased to announce the creation of its inaugural position of Provost and Vice-President, Academic [hereinafter referred to as the “Provost”]. Reporting directly to the President, Vice-Chancellor, Dean and CEO, the Provost will serve as the Chief Academic Officer of the University and is responsible for institutional planning and academic administration of all education aspects involving students, academic and members of governance committees, academic programs and the Senate.
The Provost and Vice-President, Academic leads the conceptualization, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic programs and services. The Provost is responsible for the NOSM U academic plan, it’s strategic direction, oversight of all accreditation, Institutional Quality Assurance Processes (IQAP) framework and Continuous Quality Improvements. The Provost will have oversight of all Associate Deans in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME), Health Sciences Program (HSP), Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD), and others, as well as the process for the development of new programs in NOSM U including Health Sciences with the exception of graduate students which fall under the Vice Dean Research, Innovation and International Relations
The successful applicant will be someone with an earned doctorate (PhD) from an accredited institution of higher education and/or an MD in good standing with the provincial regulatory college and credentialing colleges (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) or other provincial regulatory authority, College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience with full-time post-secondary teaching and administrative experience at the department head level or above in an institution of higher education, expertise in developing/implementing processes and plans for institutional effectiveness, and an understanding of the governance and administrative processes used in publicly supported higher education institutions including familiarity with and commitment to the principle of practice of University collegial governance. Experience in a leadership role at a medical school, in the College of Family Physicians of Canada, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Medical Council of Canada or equivalent institution and an understanding of Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) and Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) frameworks in Ontario is required. The ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with others, as well as the ability to represent the University in community and professional off-campus settings and to work in a culturally diverse environment is also required.

Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and experience.
This is a new full-time (1.0 FTE) executive leadership position based in Sudbury or Thunder Bay. This is a five-year term, renewable upon successful review of performance.
