First-Wesley United Men’s Club Tours NOSM

On Wednesday, May 4, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine welcomed the First-Wesley United Men’s Club at Lakehead University. Forty enthusiastic club members learned about the history of NOSM and its distinctive model of distributed, community engaged medical education and research as part of a tour. Visitors got a look at one of NOSM’s “Smart Classrooms,” which allow learners, staff, and faculty to bridge geographical distances across NOSM’s wider of Northern Ontario. In addition, the group was able to explore one of NOSM’s research labs, where they heard from NOSM faculty about exciting research projects underway that are aimed at improving the health of the people of Northern Ontario. Thank you to First-Wesley United Men’s Club for making NOSM a tour destination. We enjoyed your visit!

Thank You, Merci, and Miigwetch to NOSM Faculty on Ontario Doctors' Day

Across NOSM's wider campus of Northern Ontario, learners are gaining relevant clinical experience under the guidance of health-care professionals in community hospitals, clinics, and family practices. On May 1 of each year we celebrate Ontario Doctors' Day. This day gives pause for reflection and recognition of the compassion and dedication of physicians in Ontario. On Ontario Doctors' Day—and every day—NOSM thanks our clinical faculty, including NOSM alumni, for their dedication to high-quality medical education, research, and practise. The success of NOSM’s learners is directly related to the expertise of the School’s over 1,300 faculty across Northern Ontario.
