CCC_retreat_small video thumbnailLength: 2:26Video Captures Learning Experiences at Annual CCC RetreatHealth-care professionals and learners, administrators, and NOSM faculty and staff gathered in Parry Sound on January 14 - 16, 2010 to participate in the third annual Comprehensive Community Clerkship (CCC) Retreat.  Traditionally, the CCC Retreat has been held just for NOSM third-year medical students and CCC faculty and staff as a mid-year reunion. This year, the program was expanded to an interprofessional educational activity, involving many of the portfolios within NOSM, nursing students and faculty from Canadore College, as well as high school students and members of the Parry Sound health-care community.

booklaunch_thumb_smallLength: 1:22Toronto NOSM Book Launch Captures Interest of Larger Audience  The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) held its third English language book launch announcing the publication of the Making of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine: A Case Study in the History of Medical Education. The event, which took place in downtown Toronto at an Indigo store on December 1, 2009, attracted many participants who came to learn about Canada’s first medical school of the 21st century, and its innovative response to physician shortage in Northern Ontario.  As with previous launches held at Chapters in Sudbury and in Thunder Bay, contributing authors Drs. Roger Strasser, NOSM Dean, and Geoffrey Tesson presented firsthand accounts of the School’s development into a pioneering faculty of medicine. Additional launches will be held in 2010 to celebrate the French version of the book.
