The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is currently undergoing accreditation of its undergraduate medical education program with the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). The process, which the School has been working towards for more than a year, culminates with an Accreditation Site Visit (ASV) which will occur on March 18-21, 2012. Recently, NOSM’s Dean, Dr. Roger Strasser discussed with Barry Mercer from CBC Radio the accreditation process, the upcoming site visit, and when NOSM can expect to receive the results.

Atheana Buckley, a dietetic intern in NOSM's Northern Ontario Dietetic Internship Program, recently spoke with Markus Schwabe on CBC's Morning North. Atheana is completing her internship at the Sudbury and District Health Unit. During this interview, Atheana busts nutritional myths about salt, water, vitamins and gluten.

On Monday, September 19, during a town council meeting in Huntsville, Councillor Fran Coleman learned that a new Northern Ontario School of Medicine student bursary would be named in her honour. Kathryn Needham, NOSM Advancement Officer, was pleased to visit Huntsville to announce the creation of the Fran Coleman Bursary for Medical Learners by an anonymous donor.
