Library Cards 

Students

NOSM students ID cards are used for library cards however, as the ID is issued by Laurentian or Lakehead University, all students must register with the Health Sciences Library prior to borrowing materials, including equipment, in order for their student number to be included in the Health Sciences Library circulation system.

Students should visit the Health Sciences Library on their campus to register. Library staff will verify your NOSM status at the time of registration. 

Changes to contact information 

Please alert the library to any changes to names or mailing addresses as soon as possible.


Residents

NOSM residents may receive a Health Sciences Library card, and must register with the library prior to borrowing materials, including equipment.  This library card does not provide proof of affiliation with NOSM.  There are several ways to register:

1) In person – visit the library on your campus to register.  Library staff will verify your NOSM status at the time of registration. 

2) Online – Submit the online application form and Library staff will complete your registration.  Library staff will verify your NOSM status at the time of registration.  Your Health Sciences Library card will be mailed to you or kept on file until you can pick it up.

Faculty & Staff

NOSM faculty and staff may receive a NOSM photo ID card, issued by either the J.N. Desmarais Library (Laurentian University) or the Chancellor Paterson Library (Lakehead University).  The NOSM photo ID card is also a Library card.  Faculty and staff must register with the library prior to borrowing materials, including equipment.  Contact NOSM Human Resources or Faculty Affairs for further information regarding the NOSM photo ID card. 

NOSM faculty and staff can also apply for a library card in lieu of a NOSM photo ID card. The library card permits borrowing of library resources, including equipment.  It does not provide proof of affiliation with NOSM.  There are several ways to apply for a Library card:
